A/ LÝ THUYẾT

I. So sánh với tính từ

Loại so sánh

Long adj

Short adj

 

SS ngang bằng

 

S1 + be + as + adj + as + O/S2+ be

Ex: She’s as beautiful as my sister (is)

Ex: I’m as tall as my brother (is)

 

So sánh hơn

S1 + be + More adj + than + O/S2 + be

 Ex: This car is more expensive than that car.

S1 + be + Adj – er + than + O/S2+ be

 Ex: Nam is shorter than Hung

 

So sánh hơn nhất

S1 + be + the most Adj + in (N số ít)/of (N số nhiều)

 Ex: This boy is the most handsome  in the class  

S1 + be + the Adj- est + in (N số it)/of (N số nhiều)

 Ex: This boy is the tallest of the five boys

II. So sánh với trạng từ

Loại so sánh

Long adv

Short adv

(well, late, hard, early, fast)

 

SS bằng

S1 + V + as + adv + as+ O/ S2 + trợ động từ

Ex:  Long drives as carefully as Hieu (does)

Ex:  I ran as fast as my brother (did)

 

 

SS hơn

 S1 + V + more adv + than + O/S2 + TĐT

Ex: Linh speaks more fluently than Dung ( does)

 S1+ V + adv + er + than + O/S2+TĐT

Ex: I came later than her/ she did

 

SS hơn nhất

S + V + the most adv + in/of + N

Ex: He sings the most beautifully in the group

S + V + the adv – est + in/of + N

Ex: Kien runs the fastest of  the ten boys.

 

  * Note:

a. Adj kết thúc bằng 1 nguyên âm ở giữa 2 phụ âm -> gấp đôi phụ âm + “ er /est ”

 Ex: hot –> hotter -> hottest

b. Adj kết thúc bằng “ y”  ( coi như short adj) -> chuyển y thành i trước khi thêm “ er/est” 

 Ex: happy –> happier  -> happiest                 

c. Adj có 2 âm tiết kết thúc là “ et , ow, le, er”, dùng như short adj.

Ex: quiet– quieter – the quietest

d. Một số tính từ, trạng từ đặc biệt.

1. good/well -> better -> the best

2. bad/badly -> worse -> the worst

3. far -> farther/further -> the farthest/ the furthest

4. old -> older/elder -> the oldest/ the eldest

5. many -> more -> the most

6. little -> less -> the least

B/ BÀI TẬP THỰC HÀNH

BÀI TẬP I: Hoàn thành các câu so sánh sau:

1. So sánh ngang bằng

a. Mary/tall/her brother.                                   

b. A lemon/not sweet/an orange.         

c. A monkey/not big/a horse.             

d. This dress/pretty/that one.                

e. The weather/not cold/that of yesterday        

2. So sánh hơn

a. A rose/beautiful/a weed.

BÀI TẬP II/ Hoàn thành câu bằng dạng so sánh đúng của từ trong ngoặc
